Stonesour - Stonesour

The more I listen to Slipknot the more I like them. (Stonesour is the side project of the singer and guitarist from Slipknot) One of the things that makes Slipknot interesting is that their singer Corey can do both a great death metal voice and a real singing voice. On this album we get to hear the real singing voice much more than any Slipknot album. Is this one of my favorite albums from last year, no, but it isn't a throwaway by a long shot.

Orchids - This is probably my favorite song on the album. A solid rock and roll song with a tight groove and a strong melody.

Bother - You may have heard this song before. It was part of the Spiderman soundtrack. Nice and simple acoustic riff with a nice vocal. This is why you have a side group when you are in a band like Slipknot. This song would be a betrayal if they tried to fit it into the Slipknot repertoire. It works well here.
