Kyuss - Blues From The Red Sun

From the first time I heard this CD I was hooked. It had little bit of everything and at the time there really weren't a whole lot of bands you could compare them to. (Many of the members are now part of Queens of the Stone Age and you can say the same thing about that band) This album built them a decent following and the Thong Song actually got some decent video rotation on MTV, but they never broke through to that next level. After two more albums (the equally brilliant Welcome to Sky Valley and their finale ...And The Circus Leaves Town) they split up. 10 years later, this is a CD that I consistently go back to at least once every couple of months.

Thumb - This song pretty much defines the Kyuss style. Guitars tuned down below a level thought possible at the time and absolutely brutal rhythm section.

Thong Song - For those of you who have seen The Big Lebowski, the best way to describe this song would be that it is the Dude's theme song. For those of you who haven't seen the movie listen to the song and see if can figure out what the Dude is all about.
