The first time I saw this movie, I was the Fred Savage character.
I had heard good things about the film, but I definitely had
a "show me what you got" attitude going into it. At
about the same time that Fred's character is begging for his
Grandpa to continue with the story I was hooked. It is very
hard for a movie to both skewer the genre conventions it is
part of and then play those same cliches to perfection. The
Princess Bride is a film that not only pulls it off, but does
it with a style and wit you would not have thought possible.
