The Night of the Hunter is a unique and very strange film. It
is the only movie directed by the legendary actor Charles Laughton.
It can best be described as an expressionistic, nightmare, fairy
tale told almost completely from a child's point of view. (With
all the exaggerations that would entail) It is both brutally
real and hauntingly dream like. Robert Mitchum plays one Man
of God you never want to run across. (His love/hate speech is
one of the more influential sequences from any 50's movie)
