The
more I watch Michael Mann's films the more he reminds me of
a modern version of Howard Hawks. Both he an Hawks share the
same fascination with the "professional" and how they
go about their business. In their movies the profession really
doesn't matter only the details.
Miami
Vice has practically zero resemblance to the original TV and
that is a good thing. As with Heat and Collateral this movie
feels real and like you are part of what is going on. All of
the details seem right and the two set pieces at the end of
the film can probably be used in tactical training they are
so dead on.
I
only gave this film three stars as I didn't feel it all gelled
perfectly, but I have a feeling in 10 years I am going to look
back at this review and wonder what the hell I was thinking
only giving it three stars.
