Master
and Commander: The Far Side of the World reminds me a little
of the Warner Bros. action/adventure films from the 1930's and
1940's. The film has that nice balance between character and
action which is rare nowadays when the action is typically ramped
up beyond everything else. (Think any Michael Bay directed film)
It also gives as a great look into the job sailors like this
did and the true love that they have for the sea and all of
the possibilities it represents. I know there is a series of
books based on the character of Captain "Lucky" Jack
Aubrey (Russell Crowe) so hopefully this is one set of sequels
that will make it to the screen. |
