Gods and Monsters is the fictional account of the last days of the director James Whale. (Best known for Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein) First and foremost this is a deep character study about a sharp, intelligent, witty former director who also happened to be openly gay. (Very unique for his time) Every detail is right and the performances by Ian McKellen, Breden Fraser and Lynn Redgrave are superb.
