Electric
Ladyland is one of my all-time favorite albums, so an in depth
DVD about its making is something I have looked forward to for
a while. The final DVD didn't quite live up to my expectations,
but it was definitely worth a viewing. I am just glad I rented
it from Netflix instead of purchasing it. What is interesting
about these type of DVD's is when they sit down and go through
songs piece by piece. Engineer Eddie Kramer does that with Burning
The Midnight Lamp, but a song like 1983 with its infinite production
details is barely mentioned. Besides the limited song analysis
there are interviews with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel
Redding along with other contributors to Electric Ladyland. If
you are Hendrix fan you will definitely want to see this DVD,
if not, it probably won't do much for you.
