Dark Tranquillity’s Live Damage is a decent enough concert DVD, but definitely not a must own unless you are big DT fan. Its biggest problem in my opinion is that it should have been filmed someplace other Poland. This is the second concert DVD I seen from a show there (one of the Behemoth DVD’s being the first) and they just don’t bring the intensity like other areas of the world. There are of course a few solid fans at the shows, but there are never any pits or anything like that. In a concert DVD when you see the crowd you want to see that they are as committed to the music as the band is. Typically when a crowd goes all out, a band will step up their performance to match the crowd’s intensity. Dark Tranquillity does its best and on songs like Not Built to Last and Final Resistance, but overall it is not their best show. Another strange problem is the video and audio seem to go out of sync quite a bit which is very odd.

As a counter point you should check out some of the bootleg footage included from the Athens, Greece show from the same tour. The crowd is screaming every word and the band is really going all out.

The interview with vocalist Mikael Stanne is actually pretty interesting even when the interviewer asks some fairly stupid questions.
