Most
of the times when we see a pimp in the movie nowadays it is
a parody of some sort, which is one of the things that makes
this documentary interesting. The Hughes Brothers (Menace II
Society and Dead Presidents) go out and talk to a variety of
old and new school pimps across the United States. This is a
colorful bunch of characters and they have some absolutely hilarious
stories, but they are a little scary at times also. It isn't
a great documentary, but it definitely worth at least one viewing.
Throw it into you Netflix bin and be prepared for a wild ride.
Picture
quality is pretty bad. At times I couldn't tell if it was the
original 16mm film stock or a bad transfer. It is annoying at
times but the graininess of the picture definitely fits with
the subject matter. Sound quality is fine.
The
25 minutes interview with the Hughes Brothers is a solid edition.
I paid $7.99 for the disc so I was not expecting a whole lot.
