I
have mentioned this in previous reviews, but one of the great
things that the success of Pulp Fiction has allowed other filmmakers
and writers do is tell non-linear stories. As with the best
non-linear storytelling 21 Grams moves back and forth through
time, but never does it just for effect. As the viewer discovers
revelations from the past, they have a more profound affect
because we have already seen their final consequences. This
is a great and highly original film, but as with all non-linear
storytelling, it will not be for everyone. Just don't say I
didn't warn you.
